Black Dahlia Part 1: Revisiting My 2019 Psychic Reading of Elizabeth Short

The murder of Elizabeth Short, better known as the Black Dahlia, has been buried beneath nearly 80 years of theories, suspects, books, documentaries, conspiracy, and Hollywood mythology. But what happens when you go back to a psychic reading conducted years ago and compare it to what we know now?

In Part 1 of this three-part deep dive, Heather returns to a psychic reading she conducted on the Black Dahlia case in 2019. At the time, she knew the basic story and had been exposed to some of the theories surrounding George Hodel, but much of what came through during the reading went far beyond what she consciously knew about the case.

Before pulling that reading apart, Heather goes back through the murder of Elizabeth Short, the investigation, the mythology that grew around her death, and some of the most prominent suspects and theories that have emerged over the decades.

Then things start getting strange.

The original reading contains wealthy and powerful men, Hollywood connections, doctors, police corruption, multiple people who may have known what happened, a younger man Elizabeth trusted, another woman, and the persistent feeling that the person who killed Elizabeth may not have been the same person responsible for what happened to her body afterward.

There is also the mysterious Aster Hotel. New claims surrounding the hotel and evidence being investigated for the upcoming Deconstructing Dahlia series raise another question: does any of this actually line up with what Heather saw in 2019?

This isn't about forcing a psychic reading to fit a famous unsolved murder. Over the course of this series, Heather does the opposite. She goes back through the reading piece by piece, looking at what holds up, what doesn't, what may have been influenced by information she had already encountered, and what becomes considerably harder to explain seven years later.
